This fabric panel is from Robert Kaufman's opulent collection, which has been inspired by the well-known and unique work of the Austrian symbolist artist, Gustav Klimt. The collection incorporates stunning metallic highlights to give that added feel of luxury to an already beautiful fabric range.
The featured artwork on this fabric panel is entitled 'Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer I' (also known as 'The Lady in Gold' or 'The Woman in Gold'). It is an oil painting on canvas with gold leaf and was completed by Gustav Klimt between 1903 and 1907. This famous portrait was commissioned by the sitter's husband, Ferdinand Bloch-Bauer, and is considered the final and most fully representative work of Klimt's golden phase. The original oil painting was sold in 2006 for $135 million (at the time a record price for a painting) to businessman and art collector Ronald Lauder, and was placed in Neue Galerie (the public New York–based gallery he co-founded).
